Awards and Honors
He has been highly rated in the prestigious international rankings, Chambers and Partners and Best Lawyers, named the top Chilean attorney in Insolvency and Restructuring.

Education
He completed his law degree at the University of Chile and graduated summa cum laude in 1983. He then undertook the European Union Law Tutorial on the common customs system at Westfield College of Queen Mary University of London.

Academia
Undergraduate Professor of Commercial Law at the Catholic University (1999-2002) and at Alberto Hurtado University (2003-2006).

Postgraduate Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, University of the Andes, Alberto Hurtado University, Universidad del Desarrollo and Adolfo Ibañez University.

Activities and Memberships
He is a full member of the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI), headquartered in Washington, D.C.; of INSOL International (INSOL), headquartered in London, U.K.; and a member of the Task Force for Insolvency of the World Bank. He is a director of the Chilean Institute of Commercial Law and a member of the Bankruptcy Law Reform Commission appointed by both the administration of Michelle Bachelet and the administration of Sebastián Piñera.

He was a guest speaker at a European-Latin American corporate law conference in September 2011, organized by the Max Planck Institute.

He was also a guest speaker at the Iberian-American Conference on Corporate Law in Mar del Plata in 2010; and on corporation law at the University of Buenos Aires, also in 2010.

He is the author of important books, the most recent being “Negotiable Documents in Chilean and Comparative Law,” Editorial Jurídica de Chile. All titles have been translated from the original in Spanish to English to facilitate reading.
